Whenever I find myself getting pulled into a vortex of upset over the insanity that is swirling madly around “out there”, I bring myself back to balance by taking a moment of remembrance of Dr. Viktor Frankl.
His life was a lesson in finding balance by developing internal strength….and that internal strength can only be cultivated by focusing inward on the self. This is what is meant by “doing the work” on yourself; the result is a strong inner compass, uncompromising integrity, and resilience to weather whatever life brings.
Going within is the only way to find this; it does not exist anywhere “out there”. It comes from application; by focusing the mind again and again with discipline and practice, we become able to master our mental processes, and eventually develop a strong connection to that still small voice within which is the voice of Spirit. (This, btw, is how we flow into coherence with the first, most fundamental Cosmic Law; the Universe is Mental). Prayer develops this muscle. Meditation does also, and breathwork, and numerous other practices that often include somatic techniques; all are about focusing intention through practice. The more that you practice, the better you become at something.
Going within is the difference between those who are able to rise above terrible external circumstances…..and those who spend their lives wallowing in victimhood, constantly focusing blame on someone or something “out there”. It is simply the focus of your lens.
It is interesting that by simply looking at something and asking yourself “where is the lens being directed?”…..you can find the answer to the question of whether something helps to grow your internal muscle, or serves to detract from it.
Scapegoating is an example of a distraction.
I’m not saying that criminal behavior and actions should not be identified and called out. Absolutely, governments, industry players and individuals who have caused massive harm to Earth and to living people and animals must be held accountable for their actions. But……spinning in a vortex of constant reminder and encouragement to hate and blame someone or something (a lens pointed “out there”) does absolutely NOTHING to develop internal strength. It also does not build discernment. Clearly, we see evidence of this in those people who have managed to recognize the massive harm of the covid jabs, but still trust the players responsible for deploying them (doctors, nurses, government corporations, pharma) for other things.
Any individual or entity that encourages a singular focus on anything outside of the self is encouraging others to waste their vital life force. Whether it is knowingly or unknowingly, the end result is the same…..therefore, attention focused on trying to figure it out is also, at the end of the day, a waste of vital life force.
So, strive always for balance. Be curious, yes, but above all be CONSCIOUS of where your attention is going. Attention is the currency of the Universe. Do you want to continue giving yours away to benefit no one and add fuel to agendas that you do not want……or are you going to invest it in something that benefits your body-mind-spirit? Choose wisely.
I remember his book Man’s Search for Meaning.
